Speaking of BFF's, Devon wanted to invite her's to a sleepover on Birthday Weekend.  They woke up dying to make an avocado face scrub.  For some reason, she decided to include little sister in the fun (probably because mom and dad threatened her).

Basketball Anyone?

Devon has taken up another new sport.  This time, she and her BFF are trying their hand at basketball.  I'm sure more fantastic photos are to come, but here are a few to tide you over.  They won their first game by the way 20 - 7.  Go Lady Lakers!!!!

BIRTHDAY(S)!!!

Devon turned 10 this year... I consider her a "tweenager", Dawn disagrees, and so does Devon, she thinks she's an adult.

Devon recently read a book called Smile,
which was the inspiration for her birthday cake.

To celebrate my "milestone" birthday, I took the day off to volunteer for the Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) program at Hillside.  A program that gets male role models into schools.  Overall, a fun, satisfying day - boy was I tired at the end of the day.

Dinosaurs and Trails at the Heard

We spent our New Years at the Heard Museum in McKinney walking trails and checking out the Dinosaurs Alive exhibit.  It was a chilly, beautiful day and we followed up our 3 miles of hiking with a nice hot chocolate and cup of coffee.
